Ford F-150 Pickup Wins Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year' Award

Ford recently received yet another award, this time it's for the F-150 pickup truck.  Motor Trend announced the F150 as the 2012 Truck of the Year.

To win the venerable Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year' award, the Ford F-150 had to prove it won't cave under pressure. Ford describes the weeklong tests as torture. When the process was completed, however, the F-150 proved to have the strongest spirit over other top models like the NV, HD Laramie Longhorn and Tacoma.

The specific Ford F-150 model that Motor Trend scrutinized was that equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine. But, the judges certainly didn't discount the smaller, more eco-conscious 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, while undoubtedly helped confirm the decision. And, with even more bi-partisan fanfare surrounding the EcoBoost engine, Ford expects just under half of all F-150 buyers to select that powerplant over the down-and-dirty V8, moving forward.

Speaking on the Ford F-150 pickup's 2012 Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year' title, Mark Fields, President, Ford Americas says, "We are proud to receive this award and even more pleased that our F-150 customers have additional validation of their choice."1

Of course, this isn't the first time the Ford F-150 has stolen the hearts of the editors at Motor Trend. The pickup also earned top honors from the industry-acclaimed magazine in 2009, 2004 and 1997. Norris Ford suspects it likely won't be the last time, either.
